Senior SEO Manager (Berlin, hybrid)

A little about us

• What we're building: Kittl is becoming the AI-native, operating system for creative businesses. Most businesses don't lose on product, they lose on how they show up. We give small brands the creative firepower to look credible and get from idea to launch-ready, with no agency and no design team
• Rapid growth: 11 million users since 2022
• Diverse team: 120+ people from 30+ countries, with offices in Berlin and Düsseldorf and teammates working remotely
• Truly product-led company: Engineers, Product Managers and Designers sit at the core of what we build
• Backing: Raised ~$50M, led by IVP with Left Lane Capital and Speedinvest. IVP has also backed Figma, Slack, and Dropbox

Your role at Kittl

Search is changing fast: people still use Google, but more answers happen in AI with zero clicks. Kittl needs to win both - and no one owns it yet.

Tasks

What you'll do

• Own Kittl's organic strategy - search and AI discovery together - and be the single person accountable for organic performance
• Set the targets and report against them: non-branded organic growth, organic signups, signups sourced from AI answers, organic-to-paid conversion, indexed page growth
• Prioritise programmatic scale over volume publishing. Our create pages and comparison pages are where the leverage sits, not a bigger blog
• Make Kittl quotable by AI systems: structured data, extractable answers, factual specificity, and the off-site presence that shapes what models say about us
• Write the technical SEO requirements and win engineering capacity for them in cycle planning - you'll be arguing your corner against other claims on the same team
• Decide what to stop. Some of what we publish today is not compounding, and saying so with evidence is part of the job
• Work with Product Marketing and Growth Marketing as well as the Engineering team to prove impact, prioritise, and scope SEO-related projects

Requirements

What you'll need

• 5+ years owning organic acquisition at a product-led company, with results you can point to and explain - including the bets that didn't work
• Programmatic and template-driven SEO at scale, not just editorial content planning
• Genuinely technical: crawling and indexation, schema, server-side rendering, site architecture, page performance. You write the requirement and can tell when it's been built wrong
• A real point of view on GEO - what actually moves visibility in AI answers, and how you'd measure it when attribution is partial at best
• Fluent in the data: Google Search Console, GA4, and a product analytics tool
• Comfortable being the only person in the seat. You set the strategy, defend the roadmap, and don't wait to be told what matters

Nice to have

• A freemium or self-serve SaaS funnel where organic feeds signups rather than leads
• Managing freelancers or agencies against a standard you set
• A design, creative-tools or e-commerce audience
• A headless CMS - we run Strapi

Tools you'll use

• Ahrefs — keyword research, backlink analysis, competitor benchmarking and site audits
• Peec AI — AI search visibility tracking: how Kittl shows up in answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini
• Google Search Console — indexing and crawl health, sitemap monitoring, and organic performance (clicks, impressions, CTR, rankings)
• Google Analytics 4 — organic traffic, landing page performance and conversion attribution
• PageSpeed Insights / Core Web Vitals — page speed and technical performance monitoring
• Google Keyword Planner — search volume and keyword demand, alongside Ahrefs
• Our internal AI data agent — connects Search Console, BigQuery and Metabase, so you can query SEO performance alongside product and revenue data instead of in a silo

Interview process

• Intro call with your recruiter (30 min)
• Interview with the hiring manager (45 min)
• A take-home challenge, built on a real problem we're facing right now, not a hypothetical
• Challenge presentation and discussion with the hiring manager and a growth stakeholder (60 min)
• Bar raiser interview (30 min)

You'll do well here if:

• You pick up problems nobody assigned you. If something's broken and no one has stepped up, you're the person who does
• You'd rather make the call and adjust than wait until you're certain. Speed is how we win
• You want to own a domain deeply enough that people rely on your judgement in it, whether or not you manage anyone
• You'll argue for your position and commit fully when the call goes the other way
• You care about details other people would call excessive. We hold a higher bar than most, on purpose
• You use AI constantly and still own every word you ship

Every new hire should raise the bar in some meaningful way, not just fill a seat. We hold to that, and it's why you'll be working with the most talented people from all over the world.

Benefits

• Real ownership: You own what you ship, end to end. Whether you lead a team or lead through craft, we back you to work on what matters most
• Work at the edge of AI and design: Kittl sits where AI, design and commerce meet. You'll be learning on the frontier, not reading about it
• Work-life balance: 30 vacation days a year, plus public holidays
• Hybrid working style: 3 days a week in our office in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, the rest of the week from home
• Remote work: On top of that, work from anywhere in the world for up to 50 days (10 weeks) a year
• VESOP: Enrolment in our Virtual Employee Stock Option Plan. When Kittl grows in value, you share in it
• Lunch: Daily chef-prepared meals in the office
• Mobility: Your monthly BVG ticket, fully covered
• Health & fitness: Urban Sports Club M membership
• Learning & development: Annual L&D budget for your professional growth
• German classes: Online group courses at every level
• Hackathons: Quarterly hackathons to experiment with new ideas, push boundaries and build the next big thing
• Kittl Week: Each year, our global team gathers for a whole week to work, celebrate, get inspired and have fun
